WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO

Last week was great.  The kiddo's were finally well and Kinley finally started sleeping all night again after I gave in to these products....

hot steam vaporizer, nasal drops, and baby chest rub......oh my!!!  You CAN buy sleep!!

I also started my 'job' last week.  I am a private nurse for a family that just had twins.  I go to their house 2-3 nights a week from 10pm - 6am and wake up with the babies and feed them.  Last week went great and I am hoping this week is just as good!!

This past weekend we went to the ranch with our friends Lisa and Bryan.  We had a blast and were so excited that Bryan and Matt both shot a deer!!  Dad made his famous back strap and gravy for us Sat. night.  MMMMMM..... its my favorite ranch meal.

London & Kinley stayed with my mom over the weekend and came back spoiled rotten.  They had a great time but it was obvious they were glad to be back home.

This week London has her 100th day of school.  The kids are supposed to 'wear' 100 things.  I will post pics of her wearing her 100 things.  I am going to be busy tomorrow....I haven't even started her outfit!

I have to work again tonight so I better rest up.

THE SLUMBER PARTY

London and her friend Katie beg for a slumber party almost weekly.  They had one before school started back in the fall and tonight the stars were aligned just right and they got to have another slumber party.  Here is their reaction when I told them the good news...

And when you have your best friend over you have to dress alike....and you are so excited you even let your baby sister in on the fun!!

Movie time in a tent is a must...

The two big girls settled into their tent and went to visit dream land quickly.  Kinley on the other hand took the slumber party to a new level.  Initially she went down great, just a plain ole bed time routine and a kiss goodnight but about 20 minutes later she was up....and she was crying....and she wouldn't go back down....and she cried screamed like crazy.  She wanted milk, she cried out potty potty, she cried out ear ear, she cried out toilet paper toilet paper (yes really, she did).  Nothing was making her calm down.  I rocked miles and walked miles and played musical beds trying to get her to snuggle up and settle down but NOTHING worked.  I finally resorted to Motrin since she said ear at one point and trying to get a screaming child to swallow medicine isn't easy.  I'll say it nicely....after the Motrin went down, all the milk came up....all over Matt and the bed.  That left us at 3 a.m. in the tub, Matt in the shower and a bed covered in well...... milk vomit.  Kinley fell asleep with Matt holding her in her bath towel, I had stripped the bed and all the pillows and started washing them so we were left with just a mattress.  We put a trash bag down, then layered some towels and put her down. Yes she slept wrapped in a bath towel but I wasn't about to try and dress now that she was finally asleep.  Matt and I just bundled up since all our sheets, pillows, and comforter were dirty and called it a night.

The big girls woke at 7:15 and were ready to play.  Matt being the great hubby and dad got up and went to get donuts for them.   I really had good intentions of taking more slumber party pics but since Kinley's slumber party had other plans the pictures didn't happen.

I have spent most of the day just holding Kinley and praying she just has a cold and nothing more.  London has been great and has stayed entertained with games of go-fish and UNO and doing tricks on the trampoline as I watch from inside.  I hope tomorrow gives us a fresh start

YAY FOR FRIDAY!!!

Oh how I love Fridays.  It means sleeping in the next day and no worries if the kiddos get to bed a little past bedtime.

I am especially excited that the girls are both well now...well except for that never ending runny nose.  They were both better by Tuesday.  Matt and I managed to escape getting whatever the girls had thank goodness!!  Matt felt a little down and out for a few days but nothing a little tylenol sinus can't take care of.

Today I read to London's class then headed home to clean clean clean.  I almost forgot I promised her I'd eat lunch with her and with 10 minutes to spare I quickly got Kinley dolled up and made it to lunch just in time!!

I have a little .... ok a lot.... of laundry to put away and then I will tackle my sewing room.  I really need to get some sort of organization for all my fabric.  I'm hoping to get rid of alot of stuff when I clean that room.  :)

We have nothing planned this weekend and I am hoping to make a run to JoAnn's to get fabric and ribbon for Kinley's 2nd birthday outfit and London's 100th day of school outfit.  I can't wait to get started on these two things!!!

We have nothing too exciting going on around here....cleaning house and hoping it can stay that way over the weekend.

I hope you all have a happy Friday!!

OLD MCDONALD HAD A .....

PIG AND A COW!!!

The girls were invited to a birthday party at a farm so I made them these outfits to wear.  I am planning on making London a few Valentine's and Easter shirts to match the pink pants and get a little more use out of them.

Matt was in charge of pony pictures and I guess he didn't find it necessary to catch them smiling.

Here is Kinley....with one piggy tail... swinging with one of the birthday boys.

I thought Kinley was going to be scared of the animals but she loved them and wanted to pet all of them.

London had a great time swinging in the hay barn.

I made the birthday boys hooded towels and put a cute dragon applique and their name on them.

After the party we went back to the birthday boys' house and the kids played while the adults hung out and watched a little football.  Well, I didn't watch but the guys did.  We got home and at a quick late dinner.  The girls were worn out from the party and were so easy to put to bed.  I was so tired too and went to bed early and of course Matt stayed up late watching TV.  He woke me at 3 a.m. saying that London was burning up and after stumbling around to find a thermometer we were graced with the nice numbers.... 102.1.  UGH, I found some Motrin and she reluctantly took it and we all went back to bed.  She slept so late this morning and was still running a fever when she woke.  Thank goodness she is feeling ok, well despite the fever, but she is acting like herself and eating great.  I hope this is just a little bug that she can get over quick.  Thankfully tomorrow is a school holiday so she will have one more day to re-coup before going back to school.

It is cool and rainy today and we are all having a lazy day.  Kinley is napping and Matt went to the office for a while.  London is reading and I'm enjoying the quiet house....while it lasts!!

Happy Sunday Y'all!!

NANA'S ROOM MAKEOVER

So my mom wanted to redo London's room for her as a surprise and I said go for it!!  We are in a rent house right now so I have just been holding off on doing anything until we buy .... hopefully sooner than later but in all reality it will probably be at least another year.  UGH!!

Anyways, London picked out some bedding from Pottery Barn and in true Nana fashion, the whole bedding set plus all the pillows and some major accessories and paint came with the room makeover.

Mom had me get painters to come paint Saturday morning and as soon as they were done we all headed to Hobby Lobby for some shopping.  All of the wall decor and little shelf accessories came from there.  I have a major addiction to that place.  How can you not love the 50% off sales ALL THE TIME!!!

After a quick stop by Subway to grab lunch...and chocolate milk for the queen, we headed back home to start decorating.

I had good intentions of taking a pic of London's room before the make-over began but I forgot....So here is the final product.

She loves the flower canopy above her bed.  She told me it makes her feel like a princess when she is sleeping.  The message board on the left side is so cute and I'm sure will be filled with artwork soon

Of course I had to monogram her pillows.

A few decorative shelves.  The little birdhouse is my favorite accessory in her room.

I still need to get the middle piece of the fence to complete the wall.
I love the little tree too.  A perfect spot for the next day's outfit to hang....or a sweater. :)

Thank goodness she let us clean off her dresser.  It was covered in random jewelry boxes and pictures from her friends.

London was so cute the first night she slept in her 'new' room.  She told us that she probably wouldn't sleep very good because she would be too busy looking at all her new things.

Now I really want to get her new furniture, then her room will be totally finished.  I love this set HERE....and it's on clearance.... BUT, I will have to wait.

GOING TO MEET TORO!

The Houston Texans mascot, Toro, is coming to London's school today.  The kids are supposed to wear Texans shirts or jerseys or red and blue to school to show their spirit.  Well, London didn't have any Houston Texan stuff to wear so I fund a Texans applique online and made her a dress and bow Sunday afternoon.

Matt loved the dress and he isn't one to comment much on what I make.  Usually he will just say, "oh that is cute or looks good."  When he saw this dress he was like, that is really cool.  He even sent a picture of it to his parents and brother.  Ha!!

I may be a little biased.... but I think she may just be the cutest Texans fan!!!

and here is a close up of the bow!!!

THE TRAVELING SNOWMAN

London brought home this assignment right before Christmas break And i totally forgot about it until 2 days before it was due when she mentioned that other kids brought a decorated snowman to school.  OOPS!!  So in a last minute effort we decorated her traveling snowman.

The directions were to use the white paper provided(she had to cut out the circles), glue it to the blue paper  that was provided and use household items to decorate your snowman for a trip.

She wanted her snowman to be going to the ranch.  I cut up an old camo t-shirt and made him a hat scarf and mittens and London collected bark, ,stick arms, leaves, and berries to add.  See the berry smile and bark buttons.  She used real buttons for the eyes and cut orange paper for the carrot nose.   I helped her make a fire and she added the straw and marshmallows.  The green ric rac and red cupcake holder were her own personal touch.  AND, if you look closely you will see a red leaf on the hat and a flower made of berries in the middle of the wrapper....another personal touch of London's.  Doesn't he look great!!  And of course he is making smores because that is London's favorite thing to do at the ranch.

At school they were going to share where their snowman was going and write about them in their journal.

Off to school with the traveling snowman!!
HAPPY FRIDAY!

THE ABOMINABLE SNOW MONSTER

This morning was pretty chilly and as I was putting London's jacket on Kinley kept repeating, "jacket, jacket, jacket...."  but it really sounded more like, "yetit, yetit, yetit..."

Anyways, I don't keep Kinley's jackets in the coat closet but I did have my old fur coat from when I was little (like 4 or 5 years old) hanging up so I grabbed it and put it on her and she was as happy as can be.  London wore it a few times when she was 4 and called it the cat coat.  I couldn't help but laugh because once I zipped it up and put the hood on her she reminded me of the abominable snow monster from Rudolph.

Just imagine her walking around with a penguin like waddle and all you can see is her little chubby legs sticking out from under the "yetit!!"

It is my neighbors day to drive the kids to school so Kinley wasn't even going outside but she waddled around the house for a few minutes loving her yetit!!

Happy Thursday and Happy Birthday Matt!!!

Valentine's sewing

I'm tired but wanted to post my first monogramming project of the new year.

Place mats

I found these at Target the other day and thought they would be so cute with the girls' names on them.  I love how they turned out and the girls love having their spot at the table labeled.

I am excited to start some Valentine's shirts for the girls in the next few days.  I'm hoping to have them done before Feb. 1 so they get good wear out of them.

GOOD BYE 2010 HELLO 2011

Well, we didn't do much for New Year's Eve.  Matt went to work as usual and the girls and I enjoyed a day at home.  Kinley had a horrible night the night before and didn't sleep....neither did I... so our plans to hang out with my brother & Kelsey{Cody & Gogie} were cancelled and we enjoyed Moo Yah burgers at home and played UNO with London.  Sounds exciting I know but I wasn't going to even attempt to take Kinley anywhere after not sleeping at all and not napping either.

Of course there were kids popping fire works in the streets and the noise was crazy loud.  I felt like a grouchy old lady when 8:00 p.m. hit and I was sick of hearing fire works.  We attempted to get the girls in bed and little did we know we had a huge fire works show right out our windows.  Matt and London watched out her window and I set up the rocking chair just right so Kinley and I could see out her window.  I think the fireworks actually helped calm Kinley down and she didn't mind the noise at all.  I was so worried the noise was going to wake her up but she slept all night.  London had a little harder time going to bed but eventually she fell asleep to the popping noise too.

Matt and I watched the NYE stuff on TV and once Dick Clark counted down, I went to bed.

Since we had to cancel our NYE plans with Cody & Gogie we ended up going over for New Year's day.  We played wii and it was so fun.  It was my first time to play!  London enjoyed the obstacle course the most.

Matt and Cody did sword fighting and we ended the afternoon with a game of bowling!!

Gogie cooked a great dinner of balsalmic chicken with carrots and potatoes.  She had so many yummy snacks too for us to munch on.

Kinley loved the vegan cookies....made with olive oil, flour, cocoa, banana, and some other stuff.  I tasted them too, they weren't too bad....kind of tasted like banana bread but in a cookie.  None of us are vegan ..... or even vegetarian but Gogie gave the recipe a try just for fun.

We also made olive penguins.... Just cream cheese, black olives an a few slivers of carrot.

London decided she would make olive caterpillars instead.

Then she arranged them into a pyramid.

And here is my sweet Kinley girl playing hide-and-seek!!

Over all, our celebrations were great.  I'm glad 2011 is here and can't wait to see how our family will be blessed.
