THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving was great.  We spent Tuesday night through Sunday there and had a great time!!  The weekend before (at Morton's party) we decided that all the couples would cook dinner one night and mom and Aunt T would do the big Thanksgiving meal.  Of course it turned into a competition and we did Iron Chef Cavern Ridge style!!  Each couple was given aprons to decorate and wear the night of their meal and also we all had to use pumpkin in our meal.  The winner was to be awarded a cash prize!!  Here was the breakdown:

Tuesday night:
 Liz and Andrew
Team name:  Straight Gravy!
Menu:  Shrimp Victoria and Gooey Pumpkin butter cake

Wednesday night:
Matt & Heather (me)
Team name:  Got Pumpkin?
Menu:  roasted pumpkin seeds, chicken pot pie served in sugar pumpkins and pumpkin pie cream puffs

Thursday:
Mom & Aunt T
Team name:  Team USA
Menu:  traditional Thanksgiving meal.... ham, turkey, chicken & dumplings, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, cranberry salad, sweet potato and lots of pies

Friday:
Kristin & Casey
Team name:  Chubby Churros
Menu:  beef & chicken fajitas, pumpkin margaritas, pumpkin tres leches cake

Saturday Brunch:
Cody & Kelsey
Team name:  Cavern Ridge Casserole Cookers
Menu:  pumpkin & pecan butter stuffed pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes (for the kids), king ranch casserole, pancakes, fruit salad, mimosas

Saturday Dinner:
Dustin & Kelly
Team Name: The Ultimate Aphrodisiacs
Menu:  gumbo, fried oysters, shrimp queso (yummy!) fried pumpkin pie in puff pastry dough, pumpkin milk punch (some sort of frozen milk concoction with rum and sugar and oh my it was good!!)

Here is a pic of all of us in our aprons!!

The Judges...
Team USA and Got Crown (very appropriate)

everyone else!!

The judges couldn't pick just one team (as we suspected) but we all walked away with $100 cash!!

That pretty much sums up our Thanksgiving week other than the girls getting their hair spray painted with color glitter hair spray...

The guys hunted every day and the kids had a blast.  Here is a pic of the kids in the turkey shirts I made.  They all looked so cute!

and this is our attempt at a group shot taken with a camera balance on the hood of the jeep set on self timer!!
